Horizontal Water Sampler acc to Wohlenberg

The water samplers for oceanographic research are, despite variations on construction, all adjusted for vertical use. With such instruments it is not possible to carry out a satisfactory examination of the sediment and silt carried along by the current, as the water is disturbed in its physical qualities such as current and vortex by the taking of the sample.

With this instrument, water samples can be taken from any desired depth. The cylinder lies i the water eith its tranverse section completely open, allowing the water with sediment and silt toflow throught it undisturbed. The cylinder is held parallel to the current by a stabilizing rudder.
